Meet the Owner
My name is Jacqueline "Jack" Hicks , and I am the sole owner and operator of The Unbound Bookworm. I am a proud veteran, military spouse, and mother to two humans & a great dane pup. When I'm not running my small bookish business, you can usually find me spending time with my family, reading, or cozy gaming. My favorite genre is Romance, particularly of the Romantasy variety, but any good love story is welcome in my library. I also enjoy a good horror/psychological thriller every now and then!
How We Started
As someone who has had lifelong passions for both reading and crafting, I decided in August 2023 that I would marry the two and start my own business as a fun little side hustle since the bookish community brought me so much connection and joy.
In December 2024, my husband and I were over the moon to find out we were having a second child, but my current job was very physically demanding and not conducive to a safe pregnancy. Moreover, as an active duty military member, my husband's schedule is very chaotic, often leaving me to single-parent and run a household alone. With our second child on the way, I knew I was going to need a job with a flexible schedule in order to take care of both our kiddos on my own while he serves our country.
After a fruitless and discouraging hunt, I turned my gaze upon my small business and decided I was going to make my side hustle my sole hustle. Besides being a career-oriented woman, I also want to show my children what it looks like to follow their dreams. So here I am chasing mine.
